RLTCC is delighted to announce details of an exciting new addition to our club by announcing that the club is shortly to start building a sports gym and health club onto the back of our existing premises.
The new structure will use the back wall of the clubhouse and the adjoining wall on the patio side and will run the length of the building. The new build will be two storeys and will employ three full time fitness instructors to cater for tennis club member’s senior and junior and new members of the sports club.
The sports club will be equipped with the most modern and state of the art weights and fitness equipment and also body monitoring systems to download all performance data on each individual.
We feel that this will take our club onto the next dimension and with the amount of young players that the club has now and the expanding of the Junior tennis academy that this venture will represent value for money in the many years to come and that now is the time to spend for a long term gain.
The cost of the build and fitting out the new structure is to cost around €195,000 but final prices are yet to be finalized in the next fortnight.
The other option on the table was to revamp the current floodlighting system at a cost of €108,000 but going forward my committee and I felt that the sports gym & health club will prove to be a sound investment for many years to come and that now is the time to take the plunge with the value available in the construction industry.
Obviously due to the financial situation we are in at the moment unfortunately the membership is going to have to bear much of the cost needed.
It is expected that each adult member will be asked to pay a €100 levy each year for the next 5 years with juniors paying an extra €50 over the same time.
Hopefully the members will again as always support this venture and get behind all fundraising activities that will be announced shortly.
Please let any committee member know of your views or any queries in the near future.
Chairman Eamonn Crotty.
